First off, you can’t bake a better story than this. After seeing Mark Linen’s story on CBS Weekend, I immediately Googled and ordered four cakes in a jar and a dozen brownies. Because they were inundated with orders after that segment and still baking out of the kitchen, AND in the thick of COVID-19 shipping delays, I waited patiently for my sweets to arrive. The Linen’s kept me abreast, updating on my order, and that was okay, because I knew it would all be worth the wait. It totally was. I gave a few of the brownies to a couple of my sisters and my grandchildren who declared them the best ever! I froze the rest. They are moist with that crackly, peel off top that tells you this is the real deal. The cakes in the jar I had intended to share but didn’t. I couldn’t. I ate them all. Not at the same time mind you. I put them in the fridge and would open one, scoop out bites, screw on the cap, repeat over several days. Left on the counter at room temperature, the bites became meals. The buttercream frosting is just like you would make, lots of real cream cheese flavor, smooth and silky; the cake, full bodied teeming with flavor and texture. Brotha Bakes, a. k.a. Mark Linen, has found his passion, and I am a very very happy beneficiary. Thank you!
